Wisdom Tooth / Extractions

Extractions are planned after a clinical evaluation and imaging when required. At KKS Dental and Medical Care, your Dentist explains the procedure, expected recovery, and aftercare— as part of safe, responsible dental care.

Common reasons for extraction

Not every painful tooth needs removal. We assess the tooth, gums, and bite first—then recommend extraction only when it’s the right option.

Wisdom tooth concerns

  • Impacted wisdom tooth pain
  • Swelling or infection around the wisdom tooth
  • Food trapping and recurring inflammation
  • Damage to nearby tooth (case dependent)

Other extraction situations

  • Severely damaged tooth beyond restoration
  • Advanced infection not manageable by other options
  • Orthodontic space requirement (case dependent)
  • Loose tooth due to gum/bone loss (case dependent)

What to expect at KKS Dental and Medical Care

  1. Evaluation: clinical examination and history, checking swelling and pain triggers.
  2. Imaging (if required): X-ray/OPG (and other imaging if advised) to plan safely.
  3. Procedure explanation: what will happen, anaesthesia plan, and what to expect after.
  4. Extraction: performed as per the planned approach with patient comfort in mind.
  5. Aftercare & review: guidance on healing, diet, hygiene, and follow-up if needed.

FAQ

Is an X-ray necessary?

Often, yes. Imaging helps plan the extraction safely—especially for wisdom teeth where roots and nearby structures matter.

How long is recovery?

Recovery varies by case. Your Dentist will guide you on expected healing, medications if needed, diet, and follow-up instructions.

Will it be painful?

Local anaesthesia is used for comfort during the procedure. Some soreness afterward is normal and is managed with aftercare guidance.

When should I contact the clinic?
